Senior Manager, Information Systems

Aquinox is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company discovering and developing targeted therapeutics in disease areas of inflammation and immuno-oncology. Our primary focus is anti-inflammatory product candidates targeting SH2-containing inositol-5′-phosphatase 1, or SHIP1, which is a key regulator of an important cellular signaling pathway in immune cells, known as the PI3K pathway. Our lead product candidate, AQX-1125, is a small molecule activator of SHIP1 suitable for oral, once daily dosing. Having successfully completed multiple preclinical studies and seven clinical trials with AQX-1125, we are now advancing towards pivotal Phase 3 trials with AQX-1125 in our lead indication of bladder pain syndrome / interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC). Aquinox has a broad intellectual property portfolio and pipeline of preclinical drug candidates that activate SHIP1.

The Senior Manager, Information Systems, located in our Vancouver office, is responsible for working with key stakeholders to define, recommend, and implement the long-term information systems plan for Aquinox, based on a milestone approach appropriate for the progress of the company’s lead product through Phase 3 clinical trials and commercialization. Important factors in the systems plan will include SEC, FDA and other business law requirements and scalability, security, and process transformation within a primarily cloud/SaaS model. Systems integration for key business data will become increasingly important.

This is an opportunity to grow with the company, blending long term strategic thinking with hands-on, front-line work, leveraging business and technology knowledge and experience. Specifically, the Senior Manager will:

  • propose and manage long term (5+ year) strategic data and systems plan with prioritized and milestone driven selections and implementations collaborating with functional groups to assess current and future state data and systems needs and process optimization opportunities
  • collaborate with functional groups to prepare requirements documents, run vendor selection processes, negotiate contracts and manage implementations; develop, conduct and document systems risk and validation plans and results in accordance with applicable regulations
  • collaborate with functional groups to define and maintain the company’s data and document management principles and practices
  • plan and propose network and telecommunications infrastructure to support business plans and growth
  • develop, maintain and oversee disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • manage outsourced providers for network, telecommunications and Helpdesk support
  • develop, revise and maintain the Company’s Information Technology and Systems policies in accordance with appropriate regulations
  • act as the main point of contact for IT related sections of internal and external audits
  • utilize established project management methodologies to, depending on the project, act as Project Manager and/or Technical Designer
  • develop and oversee IT/IS budgets for the company, including capital and operating budgets; oversee inventory lists
  • lead and support change management aspects of systems implementations; develop and deliver and/or source relevant training for all staff

Qualifications

  • minimum undergraduate degree in computer/information science or business; preferably a relevant Master’s degree
  • minimum 10 years of experience in roles of progressive responsibility and perspective; experience in one or more of SOX, ISO, 21 CFR Part 11, and other legal frameworks essential
  • experience in business process analysis, systems selection and implementation required, preferably in a SaaS or cloud environment
  • demonstrated strengths project management, risk mitigation, and documentation
  • demonstrated strengths in conceptual and critical thinking; excellent relationship, meeting facilitation and negotiation skills; able to communicate effectively with non-technical users
